We have been selected by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology HKUST Smart and Sustainable City Living Lab Programme to design, develop and deploy an AI driven heat stress weather alert and response action management system in the campus of the HKUST. The project was initiated by our team in Hong Kong based on our ongoing research and development effort on innovative AI technology solutions for climate change. The project HeatSense includes the setting up of a data backbone of sensors across the HKUST campus collecting real time weather data. The data pipeline will be translated into an extreme weather alert warning system targeting different users and communities in the campus. The alert will also trigger off risk mitigation and preventive actions. As we always believe: “climate risk is unavoidable, but unmanaged risk is not”.

Climate resilience in healthcare is not only a matter of “Just in Time” … it is a matter of “Just in Case”
On 28 April 2026, the Singapore Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI) Sustainability Academy hosted Dr. Stanley Yip, CEO of Nanrise Pte. Ltd. The session went beyond physical hospital design to cover supply chain and workforce resilience – such as the importance of incorporating environmental criteria in vendor evaluation and developing staff well-being protocols as part of long-term planning to manage climate risks. The host was heartened by the diversity of participants; spanning all three public healthcare clusters, private healthcare, academia, agencies and supply chain professionals in the healthcare industry in Singapore- who engaged in rich discussions throughout the session. What can we learn from the lessons of low carbon urban development in Chinese Cites over the last decade?
“If we cannot measure, we cannot manage” – Managing global climate change is a data-driven decision process. However, when dealing with emission mitigation on the demand side particularly in the urban development and construction sector, we often fail to quantify and effectively measure the emission reduction effects of decisions, hence rendering any climate actions a “shot in the dark.” Ove the last decade, Chinese cities have been initiating, implementing and testing the impacts of specific urban planning and design interventions through the urban development process. Recently, quantification tools and primary project research have started to emerge to quantify the impacts of a range of actions on striving to carbon neutrality. These demand side interventions include spatial planning parameters such as transport oriented development TOD, non-motorized transport mode, street gird densities, compact urban forms, green spaces as well as Green Buildings and infrastructure, urban renewable energy and low carbon municipal services. Dr Stanley Yip spoke at the 5th Jiangsu-Canada Green and Low Carbon Development Conference at Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China
Dr. Stanley Yip, CEO of G1X, was invited to speak as the keynote speaker at the 5the Jiangsu-Canada Green and Low Carbon Development Conference (17 November 2025) in the beautiful City of Wuxi which is located next ti the famous Yang Cheng Lake (where the best hairy crabs in the world are harvested) in Jiangsu Province China. The conference was organised by the Jiangsu Green Building Association and supported by Canada Wood and the Provincial Government of Jiangsu, and also attended by the General Consulate of the Government of Canada. I spoke on the latest developments of the international voluntary carbon markets VCM, and the opportunities as well as challenges to the building and construction industry in China and Asia. Dr, Yip emphasised that along the whole life cycle of the building industry from material to construction to operation, there are fast emerging opportunities in the global carbon finance markets. Yet the industry must need to bring in AI data technologies, innovative business models and collaboration along the value chain. AI for Nature Based Solutions : Expert Exchange at City of Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau
Dr Stanley Yip, CEO of G1X, was invited to visit for an expert exchange program at the Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau (BMFPB) from 27 to 29 October. Dr Yip chaired a cross sector workshop to explore the collaboration on “The use of AI data analytics in developing an early climate risk warning system to support the climate adaptation of old neighbourhoods in the City of Beijing”. Old neighbourhoods in Beijing are facing climate hazards of increasing strong wind and rain flood events. The workshop iexplored the joint effort to set up a meteorological data driven warning system, backed up by machine learning models plus the use of nature based solutions (NBS) at street block level to mitigate the potential damages to buildings and injuries to residents in these vulnerable communities. Dr Yip was tasked by the joint team to prepare the project proposal supported by the Bureau. He also had the opportunity to have a tour at the Bureau’s research institute (Beijing Academy of Forestry ) which is housed on 170 ha of beautiful landscape, tree nurseries and national ecological monitoring stations.
AI driven physical climate risks impact assessment for buildings and infrastructure management
Dr, Stanley YIP, CEO of G1X/NanRise was invited by the Singapore International Facility Management Association (SIFMA) to speak to the full audience of more than 700 attendees at the Facilities Management Experts Summit (FMES) held on 15 August 2025 in Ritz Carlton Hotel, Singapore. The FMES returned in 2025 as Singapore’s premier annual conference for the facilities management industry, organized by the SIFMA. The conference main theme was “The Future Workplace: Technology X Sustainability” and it explored how the convergence of smart technologies, data-driven solutions, and sustainable design is transforming the way facilities are managed and experienced. My presentation was “AI driven physical climate risks impact assessment for buildings and infrastructure management”. It focused on intensifying weather and climate risks to buildings and facilities through extreme heat, flooding, and storms, driving urgent need for predictive solutions at site specific granularity. AI/Machine learning now enables property and facility managers to transform reactive maintenance into proactive climate adaptation.
Dr Stanley Yip delivered to senior IT leaders from a spectrum of industry sectors in Singapore on digital sustainability
Dr Yip, CEO of G1X/Nanrise has recently successfully delivered the 3rd run of the Digital Sustainability for Strategic Leaders course at National University of Singapore Institute of System Sciences NUS-ISS. The course director and also head of Data Sciences in NUS-ISS, Clara Lee said “his course was designed with a clear mission: to empower digital technology leaders to not only drive transformation but also champion green and sustainable initiatives in their organizations. We believe NUS-ISS is among the pioneers in the region offering such a focused learning journey. Each run raises the bar, thanks to the quality of sharing, the growing enthusiasm from participants, and the evolving relevance of this space. It is truly encouraging to see the energy in the room and the meaningful conversations sparked”. She sent special thanks to Dr Yip for “his consistently insightful sharing, drawing from over 30 years of deep expertise in sustainability”.
G1X/NanRise Collaborates with Tan Tock Seng Hospital on AI Analytics for Climate Risk Assessment for Healthcare Facilities in Singapore
G1X is pleased to be able to participate under NanRise Pte Ltd on the collaboration with the Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) in Singapore on a joint pilot study on the climate risk impacts on healthcare facilities and services in Singapore. The collaborative initiative includes the use of AI/Machine Learning models to develop predictive tools for climate risks impacts on the delivery of services, surge of illness and diseases infection, rise in service demand as well as accessibility to emergency services. Dr Stanley Yip, CEO of G1X and NanRise will be leading this pioneering study as one of the co-Principal Investigators, leveraging upon his in-depth experience and expertise in climate risk assessment and adaptation, city information modelling, AI/machine learning and data analytics in climate change. G1X has been set up as the research arm of NanRise Pte Ltd, a spin off from the Nanyang Technological University NTU Singapore focusing on sustainability technology development in Asia. NTU is a strategic shareholder of NanRise.
Dr Stanley Yip Delivered Capacity Building Course on Sustainable Procurement in National University of Singapore (NUS)
Upon the invitation by the National University of Singapore, Dr Stanley Yip, CEO of G1X/NanRise delivered capacity building course on sustainable procurement to two cohorts from the Central Procurement Office at NUS. The focus is to equip the procurement teams in NUS with the needed expertise and knowledge on sustainable procurement practices such as qualifying the suppliers, assessing the carbon footprints of products and the implementation of a sustainable procurement framework for institutes of higher learning. The course was delivered through the NUS Institute of System Services. Using the expertise of Dr. Yip in decarbonization and sustainability, specific focus of the course included the management of scope 3 emissions and the supply chains, as well as the identification of sources of databases and principles of carbon accounting to support the procurement team in developing ability to assess the sustainability data and information provided by the suppliers.
Dr Stanley Yip Delivered an in-house lecture to National Health Group NHG in Singapore
Dr. Stanley Yip, CEO of G1X/NanRise delivered an in-house lecture to the National Healthcare Group (NHG) in Singapore on 29 May, presenting key findings from his latest research on the global application of machine learning (ML) in assessing climate risks to healthcare systems. The session explored recent international developments in this rapidly evolving field, highlighting benchmark case studies and emerging methodologies. Dr. Yip discussed the integration of explainable AI (XAI) techniques into climate risk models, the fusion of ML with geo-spatial data, and the innovative use of new weather datasets. The lecture was met with strong interest and active engagement from NHG participants, reflecting growing attention to climate resilience within healthcare strategy and operations.
